New Shirts, New Releases, New Dice!!

Although we at 20 Buck Spin generally loathe the whole post-rock/metal thing that grew out of Neurosis and Isis, one band has finally hit us over the head and impressed us in a good way. That band is Humanfly from Leeds, UK. So much so in fact that we’ll be releasing a CD that contains their self-released vinyl only “II” LP as well as two bonus tracks from their forthcoming split LP with another UK band Queen of Swords. The huge riffs are the main attraction with Humanfly and there are plenty of quieter Floydian spacey-prog moments as well. We’ve put up a preview track on our myspace page, myspace.com/20buckspin. The CD will likely be out in March/April. myspace.com/humanfly

We’ll also be doing a limited vinyl version of the debut recording from Portland’s Trees. Slow motion ugly doom apocalypse from these guys who share members with Portland’s Tecumseh (new one out on Important soon) among others. The CD version will be released by the Crucial Blast label. A few shows are planned with Nadja in late March and the band will travel the West Coast in May. The LP should be released in May or so. Myspace.com/trees00

As promised we finally printed up some more of the 20 Buck Spin label T-shirts. Black shirts with white print this time. There is a one-sided version and a two-sided version. All mailorders over $100 will get one free. Also the new The Endless Blockade t-shirts are in stock with a killer design from Mark Riddick. And we’ve lowered prices permanently on the rest of our shirts. Check em out at www.20buckspin.com/shirts.shtml

We also now have in stock the vinyl version of Graves At Sea’s Documents Of Grief and a 2xLP (per)version of Coffin’s Mortuary In Darkness.

January News

20 Buck Spin is back in Cascadia after spending almost a month in the wretched Bay Area. All pending orders that were received during the time away have been packed and sent during the last week. Thanks for your patience!

We’ve got some new mailorder stuff up on the site including some new Coffins! A 3 way split CD between Coffins and two other Japanese bands, Anatomia and Grudge. It includes 4 never released brand new Coffins tunes, 3 originals and an Asphyx cover. Get your Coffins fix until Buried Death is released. We’ve got the new Drudkh disc, Estrangement now too.

Speaking of Coffins – Decibel was kind enough to name the upcoming album Buried Death as one of its 25 most anticipated releases of 2008. A nice surprise for them and for us as it was the only release on the list being released by a small label. We’ve got Moyen’s cover art already which we’ll reveal in the near future, and a new shirt based on the artwork is also forthcoming.

As stated before Coffins will appear at the Maryland Deathfest, now confirmed on Saturday May 24th and prior to that will be playing a week of shows with The Endless Blockade. Venues are still being confirmed but the routing looks as follows:

May 16th – Boston
May 17th – NYC (matinee)
May 17th – NYC (evening)
May 18th – Philly
May 19th – Baltimore (Blockade only)
May 20th – Richmond
May 21st – Allentown, PA
May 22nd – Pittsburgh (with Hellnation & Fistula)

The Endless Blockade have recorded Primitive and it’s just about finished being mixed and mastered by Scott Hull. An unmixed track, Thick Skin, Transparent Blood is up now on the 20 Buck Spin myspace page at myspace.com/20buckspin. New shirts will be available shortly.

Sanctum’s On The Horizon CD is in production now. A new track, Scepter Of Pestilence, is up on the 20 Buck Spin myspace page. The official release date is March 25th, though copies will be available from 20 Buck Spin and the band much sooner. Sanctum’s full US tour starts in mid February. Dates can be found on their myspace page, myspace.com/sanctum. Shows with Stormcrow and Samothrace are set, and the band will open a few shows for Extreme Noise Terror when they tour the West Coast in April.

We’ve recently got masters for the new Black Boned Angel album set to be called The Endless Coming Into Life and also for the Black Boned Angel / Nadja collaborative album. Artwork is still being figured out so it’ll still be several months before those ones see the light of day.

Graves At Sea played their final show in San Francisco on January 11th. R.I.P. to one of our all time favorite bands. Amazing set in which they played Pariah, Praise The Witch, Cirrhosis and Reclamation. You’ll no doubt be hearing from the members again in some form very soon.

There will be more releases to announce very shortly. A repress of the 20 Buck Spin shirt with Arik Roper’s inverted cross logo will be available soon in a slightly modified form as well.

News / Huge Sale

In This Update:

* Sanctum “On The Horizon” Announcement
* The Endless Blockade “Primitive” Update
* Black Boned Angel Update
* Confirmed releases for 2008
* Huge Mailorder Sale + New Birchville 3xCDR

Seattle’s Sanctum will release the CD version of their new album “On The Horizon” through 20 Buck Spin. We previously worked with the band earlier this year on their split CD with Oakland’s Stormcrow. You can expect no frills, straightforward crust-crushing mayhem in the vein of pre-Earache Bolt Thrower. The CD version of “On The Horizon” will include 7 additional bonus tracks compiling the bands first two vinyl only EPs, “Enslaved” and “Sanctum”. We’re shooting for an early February release and the band will commence a full US tour in mid February through March with Europe to follow in the Fall.

Toronto’s The Endless Blockade will track their new album “Primitive” in mid-December. From there it will be sent to Scott Hull for mixing and mastering. Expect about 22 minutes of punishing Neo Power-Violence. This will be released on both CD and LP. There will be a limited mailorder only version of the LP details of which are still being worked out. Artwork will be handled by Glyn www.scrawled.co.uk. A “remix” CD of Primitive will also be released later in 2008 with noise takes on Primitive by some of the bands favorites, tentatively set to include Sixes, Sickness, Nordvargr, Contagious Orgasm and Joshua Norton Cabal and maybe, just maybe, Noah Creshevsky. Further still into the future a CD Discography will be released containing all the bands vinyl only output. An exclusive shirt design and the bands split LP with Hatred Surge should be in stock through 20 Buck Spin mailorder during December.

A master for the third Black Boned Angel album is on the way to 20 Buck Spin now. No word on a title or artwork yet, but we’re sure it’ll be another masterpiss of glacially heavy experimentation. 20 Buck Spin will release the album in North America with Riot Season handling the rest.

A collaborative album between Black Boned Angel and Nadja has been completed. The album will consist of 2 tracks each over 20 minutes long. 20 Buck Spin will release the album worldwide on CD and LP. A third track will likely be released through Campbell’s Battlecruiser imprint in a limited form. This should be out during the first half of 2008.

The following releases are confirmed for 2008

Coffins “Buried Death”
Sanctum “On The Horizon”
The Endless Blockade “Primitive”
Black Boned Angel “TBA”
Black Boned Angel / Nadja “TBA”
Samothrace “TBA”

Finally, as it is the end of the year 20 Buck Spin is having a huge mailorder sale. This sale applies only to North American orders. Everything has been marked down, including all 20 Buck Spin CDs for $8 and 2xCDs for $9, postage paid. Shirts, vinyl, etc have all been reduced for a limited time.

There is also a new Birchville Cat Motel 3xCDR available titled “Astro Catastrophes”. New stuff is also in from Winters In Osaka and Grey Daturas. And we’ve restocked Corrupted “El Mundo Frio” finally.

The marked down prices will be good between now and December 15th. After the 15th 20 Buck Spin will shut down for the rest of the year. All prices will revert back to normal. Any order placed after December 15th will not be shipped until the first week of January 2008.

Vargr Out + More News...

20 Buck Spin is now relocated to Olympia, Washington. We appreciate everyone’s patience, particularly mailorder shoppers, during the move period. We are finally catching up and all your orders will be on the way very shortly. Thanks again.

First up, we’ve got a new release available. Vargr’s Northern Black Supremacy CD. This will be the last 20 Buck Spin release for 2007. A sample track “Do What We Say” is up on the 20 Buck Spin website and myspace page. Here’s the word:

Henrik Nordvargr Bjorkk is a familiar name in underground experimental noise circles, and black metal circles alike. From his work with the pioneering black industrial band MZ.412 to his many solo ventures under his own name, to collaborations with Merzbow, to other projects like Folkstorm and Toroidh, Bjorkk has been prolific to say the least. The common element in all his work has been overwhelming darkness and dread. Under the Vargr moniker, Bjorkk returns to his roots in a way. The foundation of Northern Black Supremacy is black metal of the coldest variety (think Ildjarn or Beherit), but it's buried in a no-fi terror soundtrack complete with eerie samples and anguished screams recalling his work in MZ.412. One of the harshest statements in Bjorkk's vast cannon of releases, Northern Black Supremacy captures perfectly the coldest essence of Scandinavian black metal through a filter of unthinkable horror and militancy. In his words: No Trend. No Feeling. No Production. No Mercy.

We’ve also got a limited amount of the obscure first Vargr release from the Russian Eternal Pride label.

The end of the year will see three 20 Buck Spin bands getting into the studio.

Coffins will record their third full length album, which will be called “Buried Death”. The album will tentatively have 8 tracks with the following titles:

Under The Stench
Buried Death
Purgatorial Madness
Altars In Gore
Cadaver Blood
Mortification To Ruin
Eternal Inurnment
The Frozen Styx

We’re shooting for an April release with Buried Death, both CD and LP this time. As with The Other Side Of Blasphemy, the Southern Lord label will help with distribution.

Enucleation Records is set to release both The Other Side Of Blasphemy and the split with The Arm & Sword Of A Bastard God on vinyl.

Toronto’s The Endless Blockade will record their second LP, Primitive, in the waning months of 2007. They’ll track it themselves and Scott Hull will mix and master. The final product should be 20-22 minutes of prime Neo-Powerviolence. Later, a CD version containing reworkings of tracks by noise artists carefully selected by the band will see the light as well. Tentative tracklisting, subject to change, for Primitive:

Death To Spies
Shot, Bound and Drowned
The Stain
Do Not Resuscitate
93 93/93
Like Partridges
Irrationalism Uber Alles
Raised By Wolves
Perfection
Phantom
Christ Suslov
The Endless Blockade

Samothrace from Lawrence, Kansas will record their debut LP around the end of the year. Crushing, slow, but melodic doom crust is their game. Samothrace recently completed a West Coast tour where they made many new friends and fans and created anticipation for the LP. In the meantime, we’ve put up a demo track on the 20 Buck Spin myspace page, www.myspace.com/20buckspin

Campbell Kneale is finishing up both the third full length Black Boned Angel release as well as a collaboration album with Nadja. The 3rd BBA release will be out on Riot Season, and on 20 Buck Spin in North America. The collab album is also set for release on 20 Buck Spin.

Stormcrow recently recorded tracks for a split release with Oakland behemoth Laudanum, tentatively set for release by No Options Records. A split with Coffins is in the works to be released later in 2008 on 20 Buck Spin.

Seattle’s Sanctum have finished their first full length album. The LP is due out on No Options Records. The band will tour the country in February 2008.
Grey Daturas are about to embark on a large US tour. Their recent split with Monarch is out now on 20 Buck Spin. An LP version will be out soon on Throne. We’ll have copies of the vinyl shortly after it’s release. Check greydaturas.com for tour dates.

In mailorder we’ve got new stuff from:
Atavist
Half Makeshift
Merzbow Vs. Nordvargr
Oakhelm
Portal
Ten Horned Beast
Toroidh
Von Thronstahl

And much more.
