December News

First of all I want to thank everyone from bands, labels and especially anyone who bought 20 Buck Spin releases or bought other stuff from us in 2006. We released 2 records in 2005 and did 6 this year. 2007 will probably be 10-12 releases. The label is growing and it’s because of you. Thanks very much. There’s an end of year contest described at the bottom of this update for all the supporters.

And now on to the news…

Coffins – The Other Side Of Blasphemy has received nothing but favorable reviews across the board including a 9/10 in Decibel mag. Plans for a vinyl version have finally been secured to be released by Enucleation Records sometime in 2007. 2007 will see the release of further Coffins material (see below for details…) coffins.jp, myspace.com/intothecoffin

Book Of Black Earth has also received favorable reviews including Revolver mag and a claim from Jello Biafra of all people that it’s “the best release on 20 Buck Spin so far.” Rumor has it the band will tour the West Coast during the first half of 2007. “The Feast” will be released on vinyl by Kreation Records in the near future. myspace.com/bookofblackearth

Graves At Sea have plans for several split records in the near future as well as its debut LP which should be released during 2007. They were recently interviewed (by your truly) in OakenThrone Magazine. Copies of that mag can be had through Aquarius Records among other distros and mailorders. gravesatsea.com

Antony Milton of Mrtyu! toured the United States recently. 20 Buck Spin bore witness to the Oakland show with Grey Daturas and Mammatus in all its fuzzed out splendor. A new Mrtyu! release will be unleashed in 2007. myspace.com/antonymilton

Black Boned Angel just released a 3xCDR entitled Ashes collecting a ton of material from various sources (available through 20 Buck Spin for a limited time). Campbell Kneale’s other project Birchville Cat Motel will play a few East Coast shows and much of Europe during December and January. A new BBA “official” album is in the works as well as a collaboration album with Nadja. myspace.com/blackbonedangelnz

UPCOMING RELEASES

Wormwood’s “Starvation” CD will be released in January. It will be packaged in a digipak and come with a booklet. All artwork was done by band member/artist extraordinaire Lara Haynes.myspace.com/wormwood, wormwood.us,

Rakhim from Finland are preparing the artwork for their 20 Buck Spin release. Circle members doing a weird krautnoise brainwarp is the best way to describe the two lengthy tracks to be featured. Go to the Ektro site and encourage Jussi to get it done! circlefinland.com

We’re happy to announce a 2xCD release from Australian doomed lords Whitehorse. The 2xCD will contain previously limited release material as well as new sstudio works. The 2xCD comes in anticipation of the bands first US Tour which will happen toward summer of 2007, likely a West Coast tour.

We’re also super pleased to announce the release of a split CD between (the true) Stormcrow from Oakland and Seattle’s Sanctum. This has already been released on vinyl on No Options Records (the label of the Born/Dead dudes). Total fucking crust mayhem in the vein of old Bolt Thrower, Axegrinder and Amebix on this one. myspace.com/stormcrowcrust and mysapce.com/sanctum

A split CD between Coffins and newcomers The Arm And Sword Of A Bastard God (from SoCal) is set for release during the first half of 2007. Coffins will record their tracks in the early part of 2007. The Arm And Sword… have already recorded and put up a few of the tracks here: myspace.com/thearmandsword – go check out this devastating new band whose sound is akin to the bastard child of Graves At Sea and Coffins. Artwork is tentatively set to be done by David D’Andrea (sonofenoch.com)

Several other releases are planned and will be announced as they become more fully realized.

New stuff in mailorder now from Jack Rose, Goslings, Caina, Dead Raven Choir, Ildjarn, Ludicra, Monarch, Nachtmystium, Skepticism and more. New Circle 2xCD should be in stock in the next week or two.

CONTEST:

Go to 20buckspin.com and submit your top 10 of 2006 (20 Buck Spin related or otherwise). We’ll post all the lists in late January and one winner will receive a copy of every 20 Buck Spin release including test pressings of the Graves At Sea/Asunder LP and The Obsessed LP and a Coffins T-shirt. Submission Form is located on the front page at the bottom of the page.

Here You Go

Some people have asked for more frequent updates about what's going on with 20 Buck Spin. Since consistently telling you people to find something more interesting to dwell upon doesn't seem to be working, I caved in and started this here blog which I'll try to update at least a few times a week. I don't know what you think goes on with the label but if it's even of slight interest I'll post it here.

20 Buck Spin shirts are made. I don't think I'll be putting them up on the website. They are mostly for friends and bands of the label and I didn't make too many. Still if you're just dying to have one send an email thru the website. The shirt image is below though the shirt is asphalt gray and the image is printed in black.

Also not on the site yet are new CDs from Archive - The Goslings fucking amazing new album Grandeur of Hair. That album sounds like Nadja fucking the Mary Chain in a power plant. Killer record. Also got the Bardo Pond release which sounds more akin to Sunburned Hand or Jackie OMF than the usual Bardo-isms. And a really fucked up solo blues guitar-noise record from Narita Munehiro. All are recommended. They'll be up on the site soon enough but if you just can't wait then drop me an email. They're $11 postpaid US, $14 Non US.

Book of Black Earth CDs will be in next week. Coffins is up on the site now and people are loving that record. And rightly so, it's killer. Next up will be Wormwood and then Circle side project Rakhim. Tons of the other shit in the works but Wormwood and Rakhim will probably be it for the 06.
